For my second ILP I created an Edmodo classroom. Since I want to teach high school English, I created an online classroom for a fictitious 11th grade English class. Some of the assignments I posted were a vocabulary quiz, grammar practice worksheet, and essay prompt. I also included links to online resources such as a video recap of Macbeth and a guide on MLA formatting for essays.
I particularly liked how easy it was to create quizzes on Edmodo and how clean the format looks. I think that I will use Edmodo for my classroom in the future.

You did a great job of showing the versatility of Edmodo. You added so many different kinds of posts and tools. I'm a firm believer that variation is needed in order to increase motivation and interest among students. Do you like the usability of Edmodo as a teacher? I prefer the class webpages that we built on Weebly, but Edmodo is so much easier to update and add announcements or assignments too. I guess both tools have their benefits.
ReplyDeleteI think that Edmodo is really easy to use for announcements, but I wish that they made it so that you could attach files straight from your computer. You have to upload files through Google drive and then connect Drive to Edmodo- it was too much for me so I just used links for this project. I think that as a teacher I might use Weebly and Edmodo together because Edmodo is better for grading but Weebly is more aesthetically pleasing
DeleteWow! Great ILP! I really like your edmodo! I had no idea you could do all of this on edmodo! Where did you learn them? Is it because you did Lynda Tutorial? If so, I'm going to have to do that before I use edmodo again! My teachers in high school never really used all these cool tools on their edmodo. I made one for my last ILP. If you want to check it out and give me some tips my code to join my classroom is: mevsam
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kelty! I joined your group. I had never used or even heard of Edmodo before this course. The Lynda tutorial was definitely helpful, the link to it is on my first ILP blog.
DeleteGreat job with your ILP! I really enjoyed looking through it and I was actually getting the feeling that I was back in school! I like that you gave your students to respond honestly about how comfortable they feel with a writing format. I know myself am not to strong in the writing area and I wish that my teachers would have gotten more involved in survey like polls. Overall I think it was a great edmodo and I could see students actually using it!
